ManHunt = Fail

I just found out from two of my favorite reads the founder of Manhunt has given the maximum allowed donation to McCain.  He has even admitted it.  Besides being incredibly hypocritical, it reeks of the typical Republican mentality, "do as I say not as I do".

He has the right to donate to the candidate of his choice.  I support that.  I also have the right NOT to support his business.  I can’t in good conscience do so anymore.

You can read the full stories here and here.

Sadly, I doubt it will have much effect.  Many will just shrug and keep looking for their next trick.  I know that seems a bit cynical but most gay men think with the little head first.  I’m hoping my brothers will prove me wrong.

If you are on Manhunt, I urge you to cancel your account AND let them know why.  Someone will pop up to take their place soon enough anyway.

  1. I’ll bet that he gives Grandpa Johnnie McCain a great deal on his monthly subscription. After all, what’s he gonna do when Cindy is out of town? Manhunt is his only friend.

  2. in theory, that sounds great: gay men cancel their accounts and hit this guy where it hurts in his wallet. but in reality? sadly, they could really give a flying fuck about it. they just wanna nail that hot fresh guy.

  3. I’m shocked McCain accepted it. Did he even know where it came from? That sounds like a story the press needs to know. Knowing Mcain, he didn’t know, because clearly he seems to know nothing šŸ™‚

    I am pretty sure if it was made aware, McCain would return it lol. I can’t see McCain supporting sites like these really. It goes against the front of the RP.

  4. I found you through twitter and CDX. I did the same thing you did. I canceled and urged my friends to cancel. There are too many other sites to use that do not funnel their money to Republicans.

    @donald Welcome. yeah I set off a shitstorm on twitter. hehehe. Glad to hear you can think w/both heads.

  5. The owner of ManCunt also thinks “liberal” is an insulting word. The only reason this slime is able to run his business is because of the actions of liberals.

  6. Don’t subscribe to it…so no cash outlay coming from me!

    How the hell are you Moby?? What’s new? Alas, I part for a few months and I am a mere mirage of the past…no blogrolling at my buds’ sites. LOL. I understand. Serioulsy, hope all is well. Drop me a short email when you have a moment to do so? Is that FA – BF still in your life?

  7. Let me get this right… you are cancelling a subscription to a trashy sex hookup site because the owner gave a measly $2,300 to McCain? That is not a lot of money! According to CNN’s Election Center 2008, candidates have received $792 million dollars in contributions as of the end of June. $2,300 is so miniscule in the grand scheme of things. Politics is a personal choice. What’s next? Are you going to lead crusades to purge all the gay Republicans from other sex hookup sites? This doesn’t sound very democratic at all.

    @brettcajun Let me get this right…. you threatened to withhold your vote entirely because your candidate of choice lost fair and square thereby helping our opponent. Yet, you think making a statement about a site that is supposed to support us instead of our opponent is beneath you? Come on Brett. Use that pretty head for something other than a cowboy hat rack.

  8. @Brett: $2300 is the maximum amount that could be donated. Had he been able to donate a million, I suspect he would have. Regardless, it’s not the amount of money that he donated, it’s the principle of the matter.
