… multicolored painted hard-boiled egg weekend. I’m told the event somehow celebrates a zombie who rose from the dead and ascended into a mythical warm and fuzzy place in an attempt to absolve all of humanity1 of its bad behavior, past, present, and future.

- well not all, only those chose few who are ‘saved’. The rest are supposed to go to another mythical place that’s said to be really really REALLY hot, w/no a/c or pool, and suffer for eternity. [↩]

At our house, Easter dinner consists of Roast Leg of Lamb of God, and for dessert Mary Magdaline tarts! LOL

Funny thing happened on Good Friday. A co-worker is a naturalized citizen now but originally from a state in southern India.
This co-worker couldn’t understand the association of rabbits, eggs, and chocolate with the alleged death and resurrection of the Jesus character.
I explained to her that early Christian co-opted pagan rituals in order to make the transition to Christianity a little bit easier. Look at the holidays of Christmas and Easter. They both fall right around the solstice and equinox respectively.
