Home and Back Again

This trip was interesting to say the least.  It was good to see my little bro. [1]He is 28 but he’ll always be my “little brother”  We’ve always been the closet but it seems to be getting stronger.  He is learning just being gay hasn’t changed who I am.  We also had a long talk about our siblings.  He then told me some very funny stories about my relatives and their views on me.  One relative even asked him if we still hugged (Yes, he ridiculed them for being so silly).  He also had apparently told everyone to mind their p’s and q’s as he wouldn’t tolerate any disrespectful behavior.  Anyway, I thought I’d share some funny incidents that occurred over the weekend.

Funny #1
Halloween night we had a big bonfire.  Two of my brothers were there as well as two of my cousins and their families. Of course, my immediately family already knew about me but their spouses and kids only knew from being told.  My older cousin was completely blown away by the fact I made gay jokes and wisecracks.  We were watching something on TV and I said, “I know I’m gay but even I think THAT is so gay“.  You could have heard a pin drop it was so quiet for about 30 seconds before everyone started laughing.  A very tense milestone (for them) had passed.  She later confided she had warned her kids not to use the word gay around me for fear of hurting my feelings or alienating me (Keep in mind, profanity is a given in my family).  I was touched by the thought but I assured her it was ok. [2]And while it really isn’t ok, small steps people, small steps.   I did encourage her to think about the underlying implications of allowing her kids to talk that way.  While the intent might not be derogatory, the affects can be.

Funny #2
The younger cousin had admonished her own family in a similar manner.  Her husband I guess didn’t know what to expect (having never met me) and apparently, there was some animosity about the visit.  After a couple hours, he pulled me aside to tell me I wasn’t what he expected.  I asked if he was expecting the stereotypical limp-wristed fembot.  It took him a second to digest what I was saying but he finally admitted he had indeed.  I assured him these are the stereotypes simply because they are so obvious.  I explained that while I could “nell out” with the best of’em, it isn’t my normal demeanor.  I also told him he probably knew more than he thought because not everyone, especially in a small town, likes it known.  That gave him a moment of pause but he took it well I think. lol   Not knowing it, he gave me a back-handed compliment by telling me had he not already known he would never have guessed.

It was very heartening to see some of my extended family expanding their horizons.  And while there are some who will never be ok with it, I came away knowing I’ve given them something to think about.

I share these stories because I’ve always believed it isn’t the TV and media that sways most folks.  I think it is their friends, family, coworkers, etc who decide to come out and live openly and honestly that changes their minds.  There are always some who will see you differently but, wouldn’t you rather be liked (or not) for you really are?

OY!

I am back home in East Texas visiting my little brother.  He broke his leg last week so I thought I’d surprise him with a visit.  I already had a long weekend scheduled [1]I hate working Halloween and often do my level best to get it off. so it worked out good.  I had originally planned to fly down to LA for a weekend of debauchery.  Oh well, I can be a dirty slut any time.

moby bored

The above pic is me looking pretty bored. lol  Let’s face it.  There isn’t much to do out here except hunt, fish, breed, and watch DVD’s.  Too late to hunt/fish and I sure as hell ain’t breedin’ so we sat around watching DVDs.

Last night, my older brother, two of my cousins and their families came by for a big ole fashioned bonfire (read get drunk and talk shit around a big fire).  I usually don’t drink much but being free and in an environment where my only worry was stumbling up the steps, I figured what the hell.

I can report malt liquor and fireside smores go well together.  Of course, my head is killing me today.  Homemade booze is good but it also packs a powerful kick.  Oy!

Hung over

You can see how hung (over) I was. hehehe  After a nice greasy breakfast and a serious in-flux of liquids I’m feeling somewhat alive again.

More later…

Off and Running

Well, I’m definitely on the mend.  I had lunch w/roblog the other day and I don’t think I closed my trap once the whole time. lol  I’ve been so cooped up lately, I think I was a little stir-crazy.  Poor Rob, he was a trooper though.  He listened attentively and managed to get in a few words between my short breaks to inhale.

The clan survived the hurricane.  My younger brother was up in Topeka visiting my oldest brother so he missed the storm.  Apparently, his trailer came thru the storm ok but his back porch is missing.  My Mawmaw had a trailer parked on the land that wasn’t so lucky. [1]She doesn’t live in it, it was just there.  Not one but two trees fell on it and it is completely demolished.

My other brother has been out to the land and he says there are more trees down than he has ever seen.  Even as far inland as they were the wind was still pretty fierce.  I can’t do anything from here obviously but I’ve canceled my trip home next week since no one is actually there.  Ok, that isn’t exactly true.  I’m still going to Houston.

Speaking of travel, I discovered the plate in my shoulder will set off metal detectors.  This means I have to get a declaration card from my doctor.  Even still, I’m a bit leery of traveling.  I’m American born but having heard and read some of the horror stories surrounding the TSA, I am not looking forward to it.  I’m hoping my karma will hold true and I’ll make it ok.

In completely unrelated news, I bought this 915 [2]homeless person some food at Taco Bell tonight.  He kept arguing w/the clerk over the price.  I finally said, “what do you care, I’m buying, what do you want?”  He looked at me a little confused for a moment.  I think he was slightly inebriated and had forgotten I was paying.  Bless his heart.

Airplane Moby

I have no idea what possessed me to snap a shot in the airplane bathroom but it just seemed like a good idea.  My lovely phone cam is such high quality, can you tell?

As I mentioned earlier, the flights down were a tad stressful wondering if I was gonna make it but all went fine.  Phoenix overall was great.  The short description, hot and sticky.  I also got to meet a new blog buddy, Brent, who I’ve been supporting/chastising for almost a year now.  It took the act of Congress to drag Brent out to Charlie’s.  Frank and I discovered it was his birthday weekend and were determined not to let him sulk at home.

Needless to say, I had a blast. lol  Frank immediately ran into one of his friends named Steve.  The man was the epitome of big hairy, muscular, beefy bear.  He got a big WOOF!  While him and Frank flirted, I was left to my own devices.  A rather tall, lean fuzzy dude kept eye-balling me and before long he came over and said "hi". [1]By hi, I mean I put my tongue down his throat for about 10-15 minutes  Being a good friend, I wasn’t about to abandon my group so we arranged for some quality time later.  Of which, he flaked on.  I’d already gotten the idea he might be a bit high maintenance but a hard cock has no conscience. [2]yes, you can borrow that

Frank was feeling better and we did make it to the gym one day.  The gym was one of the Q gyms that 24 Hour Fitness gobbled up.  The Q gyms have the exact same layout no matter where you go.  I have to say, Phoenix has its share of hotties.  The crowd was very mixed with several juicy tidbits for Frank and I to drool over.  That said, I can report the shower and steam room was nothing like SF.  A practical wasteland of emptiness.  Well that is not exactly true.  There were plenty of old trolls lurking in the steam room but just not the gay kind.

Frank opted to drive me around a bit.  I doubt I’d ever move to Phoenix but not a bad City overall.  Next time, I’d like to get in some hiking and outdoor stuff for sure.

Family

My little bro is doing ok.  Thanks to everyone who sent me well-wishes.  Very kind of you.  He is still having some residual pains however, seems to be on the mend.  Yes, it was a big wake-up call for him.  He was than a little scared by the whole ordeal.

I’ll be seeing him later this month as I have a trip home coming up right before gay high holy day #1. [1]Pride  He is excited I’m coming.  Me too.  I can’t wait to see him and my little nephew and niece.  I’ll do my level best to take more pics this time. [2]Course, you know how that usually works out.  I did say I would try

In other family news, I’m wiping tears of laughter away after reading Large T’s latest post.  Hop over and check it out for yourself.  Very heartwarming.

Warmth & Woe

Frank & Adam

The weekend was awesome right up till the end. [1]Well, the end of my weekend which is Monday. As I already mentioned, my buddy Frank from Phoenix gave me a surprise visit. It was great to see and catch up with him over the weekend. On top of that, Adam & Brad made the move to SF from Dallas. They are currently in the moving “deadspot”. [2]The time between when you arrive and your furniture gets delivered. I was happy to have them over and get’em out of the empty apt.

Adam & Brad

We all went to see Sex and the City on Sunday. If you liked the series, you will love the movie. It starts off very shallow and empty and ends w/some very strong messages about life. You’ll laugh, you’ll giggle, you’ll cry. **Spoiler Alert** There is one scene that was a bit of a surprise. Samantha (my role model) was battling a particular vulnerable moment of naughtiness during which they actually showed her nemesis cock. Granted it was very quick and a bit blurred however, I was shocked they actually showed it. Maybe this Country is moving away from their unnatural fear of male genitalia. [insert girlish giggle here]

As the day was rolling to an end, I got a bit of bad news. My younger brother had a mild MI [3]heart attack. Yes, I said my younger brother. He is only 27 however, he has had a horrible horrible diet for years. He had been suffering pain in his chest and left arm for several days before finally deciding to take his ass to the hospital. The night before his arm actually turned a little blue which is a bad sign.

Being more than a little hard-headed I panicked. My little bro tends to avoid problems when he is scared. Knowing his temperament, I was prepared to hop on a plane and fly home to make sure he stayed at the hospital for treatment. My older brother beat me to the punch by driving down from Kansas. I slept horrible last night and was up and on the phone at 6:00am this morning. [4]You can imagine my mood today.

As I write this my little brother is being released. They didn’t find a clot but believe it may have cleared on its own. They gave him some blood pressure meds and aspirin. I’m more than a little relieved.

Nothing To See Here II

Little Bro and Little Moby
birthdaymoby2

This is back when I had hair. I think I look so gay in this pic. lol Even then I think it was obvious. Anyway, this was one of the few birthdays I actually celebrated, courtesy of my Grandma. She baked the cake and traveled 100 miles. I loved that old bird.

Happy weekend bitches. Hope it is a good one.

Blabber Mouth

Ok, so many things to go on and on about today. You might wanna grab a sandwich this is gonna be a long entry.

The Flight Attendant:
First things first, the flight attendant called me this morning. Talk about put a smile on my face. hehehe I’m not really sure where this is headed. I’ve already mentioned, I’d be up for dating him. I guess I’d forgotten he was already dating someone1 however, from the conversation today, I’m wondering if now maybe something better is on the horizon. (meaning me, of course.) He has been very honest up front about that. I admire him for it too. That said, they haven’t reached a point of being exclusive yet so I don’t feel the least bit guilty. So without spilling all his beans, he seems willing to explore meeting again and maybe seeing what develops. Is that ambiguous enough for ya? lol Ok, I know that is a bit of a tease however, I don’t want to over think it and make it more than it is. If something develops, I find myself very keen on the idea. If not, the memories were hot! And boy were they. Ok, I’m dangling again, sorry. Moving on…

Visiting Tuscon:
With the extra cash coming in from all the fraking overtime I had to work this past week, I decided to make an impromptu trip to Tuscon next month. I’ve been bugging people to come up and see me for so long I figured it was time to return the favor. Not one but two of my blog buddies, Homer and Urswine Addiction, live there and what better way to spend an extended weekend.2 I didn’t realize how well they knew each other and was a tad worried at first. Both have offered a place for me to crash on many occasion, so who to choose? Being completely selfish, I picked Urswine simply because they have AC. (Don’t hate me Homie. *g*) While I might have grown up in the South, I’ve gotten very used to the cool nights here in SF. If I had to sleep in the heat, I think I’d promptly shrivel up and die! I was a tad worried about slighted feelings but after a quick call to Homer, turns out they are good friends, drama averted. I’m totally excited now. I’ve never actually been to Tuscon so it promises to be a fun trip. I would say think “Bears Gone Wild” but I still haven’t quite reconciled myself into that category. I’m just me. Pig is more like it.

Life: Normal

A big thank you to all the kind words of encouragement and support regarding my dealings w/Continental AND with their handsome attendant. I didn’t even mind the walk of shame from the hotel the following morning.1

Gay High Holy day #1 has come and gone. The city has pretty much returned to normal.2 I am also home from my vacation and my week of antics. It was a busy damn week and I am glad to be back. From hosting the incorrigible Brettcajun and my buds from Tuscon to flying home to see the clan, this blogger is tired. I’m slowly catching up on my blogroll as well.

Work today is almost a relief. (Almost) I didn’t really wanna come in today though. It is so nice and sunny out, I just wanted to go layout at the park. My friend Matthew dragged me out to the beach yesterday so I guess I can’t complain too much.

I posted more of the pics from the blogger summit. I still have twice as many to edit and load. I’ll get to it eventually. I’m feeling sooo unmotivated right now. Oh, and I’ll be posting a private post later this week as well. No, it is not about Steve but it is juicy. hehehe

Duty calls…

1 He had to fly out early not me. I stayed in bed after he left.
2 As normal as SF ever gets. hehehe
