In an attempt to be more of a “topical blogger”, I’m adding some random news stories that struck my interest. They may or may not be top stories (usually on the “may not” side).

In local news, our very own MUNI is apparently planning to offer free wifi to the masses. However, the mayor expects a lawsuit from SBC and Comcast. Wouldn’t surprise me if they did. Selfish stingy bastards that they are. People are always going to want to pay for dependable service. So the big fear of municipalities taking away revenue is nothing more than a shameless attempt at a monopoly. Let’s hope Muni wins.

In not so local news, The Wyoming State Board of Pharmacy has rejected a proposed rule that would have allowed pharmacists to not fill prescriptions based on their personal beliefs. Had the motion passed, it would have allowed a pharmacist to refuse to fill or refill any prescription based on personal beliefs. So in other words, “…I don’t like you because you are gay or lesbian. I decide I’m not going to fill your life saving prescription.” This was a no brainer folks. I can’t believe some yahoo had the balls to submit it for consideration.

America better wake up; that’s all I say. I don’t mean to sound harsh or angry, but it’s gotten to the point right now where homosexuality is just so accepted now, it’s being promoted on every television show.

DUH!

For you pez fanatics out there, Pez has come out w/their new Pez MP3 player. How cool is that! It is MAC compatible but doesn’t mention itunes. Thought to ponder. It plays mp3’s wma/wmv files which is nice as you can play your existing collection as well as any “downloaded” music files as well. And the price is right at a low $99.00

Scientists have discovered that black holes aren’t quite the super over-eaters as previoulsy expected. The discovery shows that stars can actually form near blackholes. Who knew?!

Scouts Honor!

Following up on breaking ignunce in the news this week, The Head Scout is pleading guilty. Karma has a funny way of kicking ass and I just love it. The fuck is getting exactly what he deserves! (story)

Top Scout Pleads Guilty In Kid Porn Case…

…(Fort Worth, Texas) A former official of the Boy Scouts of America is facing up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday to charges of possession and distribution of child pornography.

…Last fall Smith wrote a letter to a legal magazine criticizing opponents of the gay ban. “Some intolerant elements in our society want to force scouting to abandon its values and to become fundamentally different,” he wrote.

…Smith who lives in Colleyville, near Fort Worth, remains free until sentencing July 12. In addition to prison time he could be fined up to $250,000.

And get this, he chose to retire. DUH! I wonder what kind of retirement plan Hunstville State Prison offers? hmmmm?

A Day of Days!

Today is a Day of Days folks! (Bonus points if you know where I stole this quote from) Ok, so apparently I should watch the news more often. I got to work and plugged in before I knew this ruling came out!

San Francisco County Superior Court Judge Richard Kramer ruled that keeping gays and lesbians from getting marriage licenses is unconstitutional.

If the ruling is upheld on appeal, it would pave the way for the nation’s most populous state to follow Massachusetts in allowing same-sex marriages.

Kramer’s opinion came in a pair of lawsuits that were trying to overturn the state’s statutory ban on gay marriage.

Talk about a scandal and a half. Someone call Martha! I can only hope it survives the appeal. Ok, scratch that, I didn’t actually find out on the news. I read it on T’s blog. Dunner and Towleroad got in on the act too. Check’em out for more details if you haven’t already.

The hilarity of Jeff Gannan aka John Guckert’s story has reached a new high today. While I don’t really blog much about political fallouts etc, I can’t help myself. I’ve followed this story for some time and I’m just amazed at the balls of this man.

So get this, he relaunches his domain as a blog defending himself. He comes across as if it’s all made up lies! He gets caught red-handed (well not exactly his hand) and has the unmitigated gall to make out like it’s a fabrication by the liberals. Well, lets see, if you hadn’t left behind a whole slew of online profiles detailing your ‘extra income’ exploits maybe your story would be a little more convincing there Jeff. But who cares about the details right?

The guys over at Ameriblog did a much better job at calling him on his lies than I ever could have. [1]They do a step by step rebuttal of Jeff’s fictional blog accounting. A must read!

What really cracks me up is how many Republicans have come to his aid. Ann Coulter, the republican’s lap dog, published her own response to the scandal. It’s amazing how the Republicans all jumped on the bandwagon during the Clinton/Lewenski scandal but now it’s just the “liberal frenzy” trying to tear someone down.

Here’s a clue. The liberals aren’t tearing him down because he is gay, they are tearing him down because he lied, and supports people who would relegate gays to less than human status if the could.

Bizarre-O

OMG! This one is straight out of the bizarre-o files. Trannies injecting industrial grade silicon directly into their bodies. Industrial grade silicon you say? What is that? Why, its the very same stuff you can buy at any hardware store. Why you ask? Well, usually because they can’t afford the high cost of surgery to make their bodies look more fem. I’m amazed it has taken this long for such a tragedy to occur.

All I can say is “what were you thinking?”
