Finito

So the blogger weekend is over. Brettcajun and Homer are probably already home as I write this. Chad Fox was kind enough to overload us w/pics. We got some quality goof time in as well. I’m uploading them to pics.mobius.name. It’s active now but only a few pics loaded so far. Check back later for the 30-40 pics I’m keeping. *click on the top right icon to enlarge it so you can really see the pics.*

What can I say about the weekend? Was it worth it? Did I measure up? Did they? You probably know the answers already but I’ll bang it out anyway. The boys already know how I feel about them so I’ll share qualities in each that stood out.

My impressions of Brettcajun? Charming and sweet come right to the front. I wasn’t too worried about Brett. I thought we’d hit it off. I did discover he has a naivete which makes him absolutely adorable. And while he tries to act out on his blog, I think he is really a bit shy. This trip was good for him, IMHO. He got a chance to come out of his shell. No judgements or fear of rejection, just a chance to connect w/other gay guys. I hope the honest feedback he got from everyone stays w/him as he returns to the normalcy of home.

And Homer? Actually, I was a little worried Homer and I wouldn’t connect much. Worried he might find me over the top. I’m glad my assumptions were off the mark. Homer is very witty. The classic smart ass mixed in with a wholesome sensability. You don’t quite get that from his blog. He is also very gracious and kind. Traits I always find admirable. (Even though he didn’t fix my toilet as promised. )

Tony (the lurker one. *g*) Tony doesn’t have a blog but has been a regular commentor for months now. And while we all had fun w/him, I don’t really feel I am any more connected to him than I was before. He is very nice in person however, he didn’t really open up much. I’m not sure if that was because I was a bad host or if he is just reserved. I definitely have an extroverted personality. I think Brett and Homer fed off of that. I’m left to wonder if that had the opposite affect on Tony. He hung out with us all weekend but I never really heard much from him. I’m hoping all the bloggers he met will spur him into doing his own blog so we can all get to know him better. *I’m not very good at being subtle. You think he’ll get the hint?*

Homer and Brett were great houseguests. I think we were all a little nervous but that melted away. In it’s place, friendships were forged. Not only considerate but they were well-behaved and I had no worries about leaving them unattended. They are both welcome back anytime.

The rest is an accounting of our ramblings to help explain some of the pics. Feel free to read or skip. I know you’re just here for the ‘purdy’ pictures.

The boys pretty much fended for themselves the first couple of days. Even though, I did manage to drag’em out to the BCC finals this past Thursday. Apparently, they liked. Friday saw them off on individual errands. And the night was pretty uneventful. After a long day of work, I hung out at home w/Homer catching up on scifi shows on tivo. Brett & Tony were off getting into trouble I’m sure. Saturday, we were off to Harvey’s for the big blogger luncheon. To say I was impressed w/the turnout is putting it mildly. Almost everyone invited showed up. Besides myself, Brettcajun, & Homer…Kel, Dan turning 40, Chad Fox, and Woof Brandon turned up. There were a few lurkers (guys who comment often but have no blogs of their own..yet) Tony, Jeff, Sean, and Steve, (no not that one) were in attendance as well. The only no-show was Vic from V-hold but we actually ran into him later. It was nice to have faces to go w/names and blogs. I am big on ‘in-person connections’ so I was very pleased. Everyone seemed to get along well. We even got a phone call in to Large Tony later in the day. That really was a treat for me. I wanted to talk longer but that would have meant being rude in front of all my guests. I will tell ya Large Tony sounded as good as he looks.

Saturday night saw us headed to roblog’s house-warming/graduation party at his new place up on Twin Peaks. I’ve gotten a lot of feedback on how I ran into Rob. I don’t remember how I found his blog but we’ve known each other for about 2 years now. If you read him, you remember the apartment he originally rented for Chuck in the Castro? Well, that’s the apartment I moved into. He is sorta my landlord until June. Afterwards, I automatically become the master tenant and he is free of any responsiblity. Anyway, Rob’s new place was very nice. Spacious with really good views of the entire city. I shudder to think what he is paying in rent. The party itself was a huge success. Beside the afore mentioned blogger clan there were plenty of other non-bloggers in attendance. One particular couple were fascinated we’d all just met for the first time and having so much fun together. What struck me was how everyone really mingled. A lot of parties you go to, people end up in their own little groups socializing amongst themselves most of the night. Not true of Rob’s party. A large percentage of attendees really seemed open to meeting everyone. In my opinion, this made it very enjoyable. Brett almost wet himself when he met Rob. heheee. I thought we were gonna have to call the fire dept for a washdown. I was a horrible flirt all night. Ok, I was enjoying the popularity, I admit it. Afterwards, I was a bit worn out so I headed home. The rest of the crew marched off to the local dance bar, Badlands. Later, Chad came by and we all sat up for awhile just talking and goofing off. Chad Fox reminds me a lot of myself in a variety of ways and I hope our budding friendship takes off.

Sunday found us a bit early. Brett, myself and Tony headed off to Gold’s gym for a good workout. I gave Brett some good pointers for beefing up his already muscular frame. And don’t let him feed you that line about “letting himself go…” What a load! Afterwards, we had lunch at Cove Cafe where we ran into Victor and Tony from V-hold. They are so close to getting the new baby!

We headed back home to relax a bit before heading off to the Eagle for Beer bust. This is where Chad’s photoshop skills came into play. We started off w/taking some pics for Large Tony’s t-shirt around the world project. The shirt has gotten stuck here in SF for awhile. Hopefully, after this weekend, it has a nice jumpstart to get it moving. Beyond myself, Chad, Brett, and Homer got a chance to sign off on it. After that, it sorta morphed into a campy display of utter foolishness. Needless to say, we had a good time. The Eagle and the Lone Star was fun. We finished off the evening at a local Thai place for dinner.

All in all, I’d say we had a great time. I know I sure did! I met so many of my favorite bloggers. Maybe we can make it a yearly thing? What say you?

  1. Well Moby…

No, you were the perfect host. And I appreciate you welcoming me into your home. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was sorry to see the extended weekend come to an end.. And I’ll be the first to say that in a large group I become more of the observer for a bit. Just my personality. Think that is what you were experiencing.

You..subtle?!?! Nah! Direct as hell. Hehehe! I simply need to sit down and pull a blog together but I think it takes a purpose or topics of importance to compose a blog. I need to find what those are.

  2. I have to admit it feels a bit strange seeing all of the photos you guys took in and around the apartment I rented for Chuck (btw, now that the cat is out of the bag, my lease is through August).

Anyway, I’m so glad that you all had a good time here. The party was a great success, and I’m very happy that you came!

  3. Tony…reserved? Must have been nervous with all you hunks. Believe me get him alone and he is quite the conversationalist.

  4. You know, it’s such a blast just to reead about what you all’s weekend together. It must have been too much to actually be there and a part of it…and it was kinda…no not kinda…VERY cool to be a part of it for ten minutes or so even if I was thosands of miles away. What a great, sexy, fun, bunch of guys you all are.

  5. Isn’t Homer HOT?!?! I’m so sad I missed the blogger weekend. next time you need to let me know so I can join you.

  6. Hey, boo… I made it home in one piece. Time flew by so fast on the way to Dallas and then onto New Orleans. I stayed in New Orleans last night with the Shrew. I had a FUN time. Thanks for being so kind to host me. I REALLY appreciate it! šŸ™‚ You are just the sweetest thing.

I still am curious about your comments about my naivity. Is it my immaturity? Or my obliviousness to some things around me? And you said I was shy! I am shy when I am in new settings with new people. When was I shy this last weekend? (besides Rob’s party)?

  7. I was debating about going to meet all the bloggers whose sites I’ve been reading for now a couple of months. Then I chickened out because I thought I don’t really know anybody there (too self-conscious and nervous of me). Anyway, I enjoy reading everyone’s coverage of the weekend. I’ll hope for the next gathering…
