(full story) New Jersey’s highest court ruled Wednesday that gay couples are entitled to the same rights as heterosexuals, but that lawmakers must determine whether the state will honor gay marriage or some other form of civil union.
Let’s hope there is some weight to this one.

My home state! (But not the current one…) I think the biggest surprise was when I found out there were 3 judges who disagreed with the majority’s opinion, but they weren’t against us. In fact, they were the ones who were calling for full marriage rights! I was pretty impressed that no matter what they wind up calling it, the 7 judges were unanimous in saying that gay families deserve equal rights and responsibilities. My current state of Colorado is set to ban marriage, but oddly is also set to approve full domestic partnerships. I’ve been picking interesting states to live 🙂
