Ride & Stuff

The cliffs south of the city.  I always love taking shots like this.

It was a beautiful day today so I decided to go for a ride. [1]I’ve been trying to remember to bring my camera more.  I had an awesome time.  It was sunny and warm and very little fog so a perfect day for it.  I had planned to ride with the group but as usual, I didn’t get up in time.  They like to ride early and you know me, I am so not a morning person.  I don’t mind though.  I enjoy exploring and don’t like feeling like I have to rush.

I always think of Mel Brooks’ High Anxiety when I look down like this.

This pic was taken about 10 miles before Half Moon Bay.  I tried to geotag the pics but I couldn’t get a cell signal so far out.  I could manually do it but who has the time? lol  Anyway, I wanted to climb down but I had my riding boots on and they aren’t exactly conducive to climbing.  I didn’t think falling and breaking my neck would be a good way to end the day. lol  Click over if you wanna see more.

I got a wild hair and decided to stop and go for a hike this time.  I haven’t been hiking in ages and had a blast!  Totally unplanned.

San Gregorio State Beach is about midway between SF & Santa Cruz.  I discovered today it has some awesome marshlands.  I hiked all the way up the creek bed as far as I could.  The path ran out about two-thirds of the way inland.

Ok, I admit it.  I got a little nostalgic as it reminded me of home.  There are tons of marshlands and swamps in East TX.  I grew up in the sticks and tramping thru the woods and wetlands was always one of my favorite past times.  I think my dad thought I was a little crazy because I’d roam all day and still be raring to go.  The insert is a satellite view off the web.  Kinda cool huh?

Anyway, It was fun.  And lo and behold, I actually remembered to take pics this time!  Aren’t you proud of me?  lol  I also remembered to bring some food this time.  I stopped at Arby’s and picked up some roast beef burgers before hand.  I luv’s me some Arby’s.  heh heh

I managed to get my riding gear and boots covered in mud.  Now you begin to see why I had so much fun! lol  I might live in the City now but I’m still a country boy at heart I guess.  I felt like a school kid trekking along thru the mud and briars.  Aww, who am I kidding, I was fucking giddy!  heehee  Thankfully, leather is easy to clean too.

There are a few more pics over here if you care.  There is one really cool pic of an algae bloom in the creek bed.

Ok, enough rambling, I’m off to the gym.

  1. Nice to see there's beautiful weather some place in this country. All I've got to take pictures of around the Boston area, is dirty snow and icy sidewalks.

I have to wait until late spring for the boyz to start wearing less clothing too! Damn you California!

  2. you realize, of course, that there is an infamous nude gay beach right at San Gregorio? There's also the great San Gregorio general Store there. Great place. Bought one of my best fedora hats there.

@Rich ~ hmmmm. Didn't see any of that! lol Maybe next time I'll have to walk the beach
