Week in Review II

With all the “secret squirrel” stuff going on, I haven’t really blogged much about the mundane stuff. Well, I’m here to fix that.

I can’t remember if I mentioned it but I bought a new duvet set for the bedroom. I originally went in for just a sheet set. Of course, I can never go into that store and only make one purchase. What I did is leave with a lot of bags and an empty wallet. *g* I bought a nice microsuede duvet cover (hunter green), a hypo-allergenic comforter, some new sheets, and 3 new pillows. Oh yes, my bed is nice and comfy now.

What else? The week has been pretty bland albeit busy. Still very little time for the xbox. *long sigh* I still have weekends but I’d rather do something in real time on my days off. Speaking of busy, the trainer is kicking my butt big time. We hit the heavy weights this week so I’m really feeling it. Oy! But, for all my whining, I’m very happy with him.

I’ve decided I’m over the new blog banner. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice but the green sorta conflicts w/the rest of the blog. I’m borrowing a page from Large Tony here and opening up bids for a new one. Any graphic designers out there wanna help a brother out? I’ll take the top three and let you decide which one is the best. I’ve found a couple of new ones I like but nothing wrong w/broadening my scope. I’m sure many of you noticed the Poll thingy on the right. I may or may not keep it. Time will tell.

Color Me Surprised

Wow! I expected a small flurry of emails after my last post however, the number of folks who signed up really blew me away. I got 62 registrations. Sixty two! Who knew? lol And new ones are still rolling in. I’m more than a little flattered. Really. I’m honored so many folks actually read my madness. Ok, enough gushing, moving on now. Most of you I’ve already upgraded. You should now be able to see a private post I added last night.

There were a few folks I didn’t recognize. I emailed you directly and hope to hear back from you. I don’t need anything overly revealing. Just take a moment to introduce yourself and give me some sort of connection.

Abruptly switching gears here, I discovered recently a friend is splitting w/his beau. While I’m genuinely sorry it didn’t work out, I’m also a little bit gleeful.1 I dated said friend briefly. I let it fizzle out due to my own fears and insecurities. Frankly, I was afraid of getting close to someone after my ex. Of course, I realized (too late) that my interest in said friend was more than just a passing one. I regretted not pursuing it further but, not being a homewrecker, I gave him space and room to grow happy in the new relationship.2 Now that he is soon to be single again, I’m wondering how to proceed. Should I fess up to him or just try to strengthen our friendship and see where it leads? Tsk, tsk! Decisions decisions. It doesn’t help I also recently met someone from out of town that I enjoyed spending time with as well. And said someone, is coming to visit me again very soon.

I seem cursed to always end up having to choose between two guys. I am never am able to meet just one guy and take the time to see where it goes. I’m reminded of the phrase “when it rains, it pours” here. The real irony is I have no problem separating love and sex. Monogamy is something I’m not really into. However, I’m not very good at dating more than one person at a time. I wonder what Freud would have to say about that?

Oh well, only time will tell I guess. In the meantime, I’ll continue being my normal incorrigible self.

Blogs A Changin’

My blog has evolved quite a bit since I started. You few long time readers will know the ole blog started as a form of self-therapy. Well, I’m happy to report I’ve been able to put more than a few demons to rest in the last few years.1 And while the blog will always be primarily about my life and all the nonsense that entails, I think it’s time to broaden my scope a bit. I’m coming up on my third full year and my 1000th post. I think I’m ready.

Up until now, the blog has focused primarily on my trials and my goals. And while both are true aspects of my id, I feel, more and more lately, like the blog is only a partial representation of who I am. There are good and bad parts (depending on perspective of course) that I often choose not to share for a variety of reasons. Oh, I still write about them, I just lock them away from everyone but me.2 Well, not anymore. I’ve decided to include other things including some of my more ‘adult‘ behavior. Now before you start salivating too much, I’m not refering to “nudie” pics of myself3 but more of an insight into that part of my life. I’ve mentioned on several occasions what a carnal creature I am so now it’s time to put up or shut up. I will add here, be careful what you wish for. You may loose your lofty view of me after reading too much. Consider yourself fore warned.

Of course, I’m left w/the worry that people I don’t want seeing such antics will. Well, that is the great thing about WordPress. I can limit who sees what based on user levels. So, I mentioned a while back about the need to sign up as a registered user. Well, that little tidbit is becoming live. You’ll notice on the left a “log-in” link.4 You can click to log-in and/or register. Usually, once you log in the first time, a cookie is set on your computer so you don’t have to do it every time. Your level of access is set by me obviously. Keep in mind subscribing to my RSS feed or updates by email is not the same thing.

You’ll know when you’re viewing “sensative” material as the title will show a little lock icon and a number at the end of it. The number will indicate your level of access. A few of you already know and have access so if we’ve had this conversation, there is no need for you to redo it.

There you have it. I’m opening things up a bit. Remember, I warned you. If you don’t want to read such antics, don’t log-in or simply log out anytime you feel the need.

Blogapalooza 2007

So here is the scoop in a nutshell. Blogapalooza 2007 is set for the last weekend of June.1

Several bloggers from all over will be descending upon the city for the festivities. I encourage you to look into booking now as the city does get pretty full.2 The Moby pad is also full up however, I am consolidating a list of folks looking for room and board and/or wanting to share expenses, etc. Also, if you are a local blogger and willing to open up your spare room or home to accommodate an incoming blogger, please let me know.

I am taking the weekend off and am hoping to schedule some group activities for everyone. Nothing fancy, overly expensive, or remotely pretentious will be planned. If you are hoping for the “social event of the weekend“, you are in the wrong place. However, it will be a social get together for us to meet, in the flesh, and get to know each other. You are not expected to be with the group the whole time however, it would be nice if you attend the big dinner with everyone. Cameras and video recorders will abound so please leave your shyness at the door. *wink*

Cranky Pants

I’m in a cranky mood today. Nothing really happened. Just one of those days I guess. This guy stopped in front of me at the gym and before I knew it, I was cussing him a new one. Course, if he didn’t have his head up his ass while talking on a cellphone he wouldn’t have cut me off but you know how I hate to nick-pick.

The gym was good. It is my off day with the trainer so just cardio today. The shower was even better so I still can’t figure out why I’m so damn moody.

I just arrived to work and my trainee is late so maybe it’s a good sign.

Gone For The Summer

Well, as the holiday and the bearfest comes to a close, I find myself trying hard to get back into my schedule. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate schedules? I do. That said, I’ve been really good at keeping my nose to the grindstone these last two weeks.1 Besides my work schedule, I’m hitting the gym 4 days a week, 3 w/the trainer, plus my weekly ride along on Fridays. With all of that poor Moby only gets one day off a week right now. All things considered, I’m ok with a little rebellion. I had a great time too. Does that make it ok? lol

All I can say is thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster today was a holiday. Work is slow and I was able to pay bills, catch up on some chores I neglected, blah blah blah. I was also late meeting the trainer but only by a few minutes. Partly because I met up with brettcajun‘s friend Rich from Dallas after work last night. We met out at the Eagle. I can see why Brett was all ga-ga over him. Besides being sexy, he was also very sweet in person. I met several of his friends and we all laughed and cut up till I had to call it a night. Anyway, I’m normally early so the trainer was ok with lateness. We combined a double set into a triple set and caught up rather quickly.2 We did have a good conversation about him pushing me harder. I tend to be very ectomorphic so my body adapts quickly. To compensate, we have to increase the intensity pretty often. He agreed. Afterwards, I ran into my friend Zack in the hood and we debated tattoo designs. He is very artistic and has designed this very large detailed sea creature tattoo for his back.

In other news, it was unusually nice out today. So much so, after my workout, I went for a ride down by the beach.3 A tad windy but very nice out.

All in all, it was a good weekend. The bears were friendly, the weather was nice, and I was busy!

Bear Hug

Well, I guess my fears about wild bears were unfounded. Not only were the bears very kind but there were quite a few muscle bears on the prowl this weekend. We had some unusually warm weather for this time of year so I’m sure it helped to keep them docile. *G* I got several grunts and woofs over the weekend. I’m still wondering why a little facial hair suddenly qualifies me as an “otter” (I think that is the term)? Speaking of bears, brettcajun‘s friend Rich from Dallas is in town. I’m supposed to meet him and his crew out tonight for a quick drink. I can’t be out late as I have a date w/my trainer tomorrow bright and early.

Oh! I almost forgot. My friend Bobby was showing off a fancy new camera the other day so I just had to have one. It takes really cool vids for a camera. I’ll post a few of those later. In the meantime, here is a mugshot of yours truly I snapped off today. Can you tell it’s my Monday?

Bears or Bust

My ride along today was pretty uneventful.1 I’ve settled into a good rhythm with the crew I ride with. They no longer feel the need to point everything out to me or even see if I know. If something big comes up, I ask or just take direction. We do the job and and still manage to have a good time of it. That said, I was rushed this morning and forgot my lunch along my clothing sheers. No biggie as they always have extra on board. However, we were kinda busy so getting a lunch break was tough. I ended up being the fortunate benefactor of an ER nurse who brought a grilled chicken sandwich down from the cafe for me.2 I tried to be grateful w/o encouraging her. I don’t think I succeeded though.

I had forgotten it’s IBR (Internationl Bear Rendezvous) weekend. Well, until I got home and discovered all the bears descending upon the Castro. It was as if someone had kicked over an antbed full of “bears”. lol I’ve been told recently because of my newish facial hair, I qualify as a bear or some other moniker I can’t think of at the moment. I don’t really feel like a bear. I didn’t do it to make the jump. I only mention it because it seems every year more and more “bears” develop an attitude toward the non-bears. As if you aren’t furry like a goat or your belly doesn’t protrude over your waistline, you are the enemy.3 Last year, a rather large queen had the audacity to say to my face, I wasn’t his type because I was too much of a gym bunny. We werent’ even in conversation. He just made a point to say it loud enough I could hear. Sad in my opinion but not completley unexpected. I think the bear community formed in part due to larger folks being shunned by the “pretty boy” crowd.4 So now, they’ve become the very thing they oppose? Ring any bells? It should.

I try not get get annoyed by the stupidity of a few but it does get tiresome. I get sick of all the in-fighting in our culture. The butch vs the fems, the neg vs the poz, the buff vs the bears. It doesn’t have to be that way. Not everyone you meet is an asshole. Some of us are quite nice. This year, I’m hoping for better.
