Pride Cometh

The motherland is gearing up for the first gay high holy day of the season. The gym gets busier by the day, the bars have already put out flashy banners, and the city is slowly filling up w/visitors. Yes, gay pride is coming again to SF. I’ve weighed in more than a few times on pride here but feel compelled to do so again.

I’ve already seen and heard that many folks once again don’t celebrate pride anymore. They feel it represents aspects of the community as undesirable. Aspects many would rather middle America knew nothing about. Why? Because it forces them to challenge their beliefs. Oh, I’ll be the first to admit pride is no longer just about celebration however, that doesn’t mean we should stop. We are more visible than ever. We have more rights than ever. However, one only need to look as far as the local news to see that gays/lesbians are still tormented, tortured, and even murdered by the ignorant.

Gays/lesbians come from all walks of life. We cross the divide of race, sex, and nationality. It is foolish to think we will ever speak w/one voice; we are simply too diverse. Does that mean we should abandon those who came before us? Or how about those coming after us? Will they see a community as large and diverse as humanity itself or will they see nothing?

I came out very young. Even though I decided to live openly for myself, I was still very naive and scared. Seeing my first pride parade gave me hope. I realized I was not alone. I realized I didn’t need to settle for second class citizenship. I realized that there were people just like me out there in the world. It was such a relief and it was then I knew I’d be alright. I have not forgotten those fearful years. I find it an act of cowardice to even suggest we abandon a celebration of who we are. We would be turning our backs not only on the very liberties we’ve fought so hard for but also those coming up behind us. There may come a day when we no longer need to celebrate in unity. That day is not yet upon us. While many of us have come to terms w/being gay, many more have not. We may not identify or even agree w/parts of the gay “community”. We don’t have to. We only need remember that everyone has the right to live openly and free of persecution simply because we are different.

It is with an open heart I welcome you into the fold. Fag, dyke, queer, lesbo, tranny, daddy, twink, bear, bunny, lesbian, gay, or whatever you call yourself. Welcome. And realize you are not alone.

B

Today’s blog post is brought to you by the letter B. B for brettcajun. B for his birthday. Ya’ll hop over and wish him a good one.

**BTW, he is officially older than me no!**

Thank You Your Honor

Well, I got released from service. Turns out it was a murder trial. Considering where I work, I knew I wouldn’t get selected. However, it would have been nice to have the option to leave upfront vs waiting 4 hours just to get kicked to the curb.

I was excited and really wanted to do it. I tend to be very fair-minded and think I could have made an honest unbiased choice. It is not my job to decide guilt or innocence or even determine if you were involved. I simply decide which service you need and how fast you need’em. Not really a conflict in that regard. The conflict comes in because I have access to secure confidential databases of the criminal variety. Ok, I can agree w/that. It still would have been nice to do it. Unlike a lot of folks, I feel it is my civic duty as a citizen to go for jury service. I’m fortunate in that I wouldn’t have lost any income. Not everyone can say that, so no judgments. (pun intended)

Besides waiting and waiting and waiting, the overall process was simple. Show up, pool into a room, get randomly selected from a list for different depts (courts) and then off you go. I just so happened to get the month long murder trial. Since this was only the pre-screening, we didn’t see the defendant or even know exactly what had happened. Then we were sorted into two groups, Group A – yes available and no hardship, Group B – hardship or possible conflict. I was in group B obviously. I was the very last juror polled. However, when it got to my job description the judge cut me off and said, “Ok, that’s it you are excused”. So much for big drama. Damn!

The one good thing is I get out of work with pay for the rest of the day!

Juror #603

I got summoned for Jury Duty today. I had to be up bright and early after working till 11pm last night. Needless to say, I’m cranky. Whoever he/she is it better be good otherwise GUILTY!

Actually, this is my first time to be called all the way in. I’ve gotten summons in the past but never had to go in. Nothing so glamorous as OJ, Scott Peterson, or Britney. No, I’m just dealing w/superior court which usually means traffic or misdemeanor offenses. I was worried I was gonna be late but made it w/plenty of time to spare.

I’m a little weirded out at the moment. Half the Jurors look like they should be on the other side of the bench. lol. Haven’t people ever heard of being “presentable”? Whatever, I’m lucky in that I get my full salary from work today. Everyone is stuck w/their $20.00 a day check which doesn’t even cover parking expenses.

I’m sitting in the assembly room waiting to for instructions and the guilty, oh I mean, defendant. hehehe

Random …

… shit that seems to be rolling around in my head today.1

Why do queens over use the word masculine in online profiles. If I had a quarter for every time some nellie bitch told how masculine she was, I’d be rich.

I hate when I get a rash somewhere when I rub too hard.

Why is it always the fugly guys who take their shirts off in public?

Don’t leave your dog off the leash and then bitch when someone kicks it for trying to bite them.

*My latest sarcastic response for tweaked out freaks who obviously can’t read* How about never? Is never good for you?

If you wanna smoke pot, don’t hide behind medicinal uses. Chickenshit, just man up and say you like getting high.

Apparently, No means no unless you are desperate, then it means just keep asking.

Gay men over 30 should be banned from referring to themselves as “boi” or “jock” or any of its derivatives.

I swear, I did not sleep with that man. I sucked him off but I did not sleep with him.

If you are a “top only” looking for other tops, you aren’t fooling anyone.

Do promises made during sex count?

Paris Hilton is in jail? Who cares!

What To Do?

When you run into a fellow blogger someplace naughty do you?

a) stop everything
b) ignore him
c) say hi and go back to what you were doing.

I chose answer C last night. I think I might have come off as rude. He sorta caught me right in the middle of a oral interlude that I wasn’t willing to let go. So if you are reading this, I came back around to chat w/you but then YOU were busy.

Question?

Is it wrong to have impure thoughts about a blog buddy? I touched myself last night thinking about one and I feel so dirty today. What should I do?

Oh, if you weren’t able to see the private post while logged in, it was my fault. I turned off the plugin by mistake. All is working correctly again now.

Oddball News

I thought I’d take a break from rambling on and on about me for a change and share some really oddballs news stories.

(full story) A NEW York man has sued the makers of a health drink, saying it has given him a permanent erection for the last two years.

This for Boost Energy drink. Can you say frivolous? What a maroon!

(full story) An environmental group asked the federal government Tuesday to ban a class of toxic chemical compounds that are found in industrial and household detergents and are believed to cause male fish to develop female characteristics.

Screw the fish, what about the affect on Humans?!

(full story) Scientists have set a new record in sending information through thin air using the revolutionary technology of quantum teleportation – although Mr Spock may have to wait a little longer for a Scotty to beam him up with it.

Now this is downright spooky. Think about it. Teleportation even in the simplest form just boggles the mind. To think we are already developing applicable theories is amazing. I guess science really does mirror science-fiction.
