EarthQuake!

Speaking of over exaggeration, you’d think I was dead from all the phone calls and text messages I got from out of state friends. We had an earthquake tonight north of the city by about 70 miles. The aftershocks were felt all the way to the city. While stronger than the normal tremors we get, nothing earth shattering (pun intended).

For those of you who have no idea what it’s like living thru an earthquake, it is much like any natural phenomenon. Earthquake 2006You get thru it. People live thru torrential rains, floods, tornados, hurricanes, and yes, earthquakes. Surprise!

Our building is one of the newest city buildings and it’s on rollers so we have sort of a wave affect. We’ve actually taken to standing up and doing a human wave across the room. You laugh but it is a very effective way to relieve tension.

So to all my peeps out in blogland, never fear, I is still here. (and yes I know it’s not good grammar bitches.)

Ignunce Rears It’s Ugly Head II

Why is it in this country we always have to over exaggerate things? Take for example this clip from Towleroad regarding a hate crime.

The home of two gay men living in Aldie, Virginia, just west of Washington, DC was the target of homophobic vandals over the weekend. The vandals spray-painted “FAG” and other homophobic remarks on the lawn, driveway, mailbox, and street in front of their property. They also uprooted over 170 trees and shrubs and poured gasoline on the lawn before fleeing the area. (photos)

Said Equality Loudoun (Aldie is in Loudon County) President David Weintraub: “I am disgusted and saddened. The good news is that the homeowners do feel that this crime is being taken seriously and being investigated by law enforcement as what it is: a hate crime and act of terrorism.”

Webster’s defines terrorism as “..threat of force or violence by an organized group..against person(s) or property w/the intent to intimidate or coerce a soceity or government for ideological or political reasons”.

Someone please explain to me how a hate crime involving graffiti and vandalism of trees reaches the level of “government intimidation”? I’m not trying to belittle the event as it is a serious offense. The perps. caused significant property damage and who knows how much emotional turmoil. But come on folks, let’s keep things in perspective. This is NOT terrorism.

I’m probably overly sensitive to this issue. In my line of work, I hear people throw around the word terrorism all the time. I’m just sick and tired of the “ignunce”.

Technophile

If you know me, you know I’m a tech geek. I love all things techey. I can lose myself for hours in electronics/computer stores.

One of my favorite reads is scifi.com’s tech blog. It’s pretty cool. They give regular updates of all things tech. Surprisingly, it’s a good mix. Not just corporate crap being pushed by the parent company.

Tinkering Again

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m tinkering w/the blog again. I’m adding stuff back in and some stuff got left out. I’m trying to keep it sleek and simple. The clutter tends to be distracting I think.

I also added the RSS links back in as well as a subscribe page. This way more folks have options as to how they get updates. You can download it via a feed reader or just wait for an email in your inbox.

Trip II

I just booked my flight for Fort Lauderdale in October.  Cross your fingers that another hurricane doesn’t tear them a new asshole this year.  I didn’t get to go last year and I’m still smarting from it.

I got bumped from my ride along this morning. Such is life.  I went home and crawled my butt right back in bed.  I didn’t get many errands done over the weekend so now that I’m up and about again, I might as well be productive.

Drop pants off to be hemmed .  .  . check

Pick up meds for nose .  .  .  check

Laundry  .  .  .  You are joking right?

Check the mail  .  .  .  check

Wash the bike  .  .  .  not done

Start new blog  .  .  .  check
Ok, what did I forget?  I know I’m forgetting something!

In other news, I’m thinking I might buy myself a new laptop for xmas this year.  The Dell is still chugging along however, it’s kinda heavy.  I know I’m speaking blasphemy so any MAC fanatics turn your head.  I might get the 17″ powerbook and just run windows on it. hehehe.  Now that MAC has gone all Intel on us, it’s a not a far stretch.  I’ve always liked the aesthetics of Mac’s, I just hate the operating system.

Anyway, time to shave the head and get ready for work.

No More Leather

I was gonna do a vidcast of this post but since I’m not at home at the moment, text will have to do.

Gay high holy day has finally come to an end and I have never been so glad to peel out of leather.  Leather I’ve been in since 10:00am this morning. Boy was I sticky!  Who’s bright ideas was it anyway for gay boys to fancy leather?  Even though, I don’t think I’ve gotten so many comments on my butt in a long time.  I’m all cleaned up now and catching a late bite at the local feed trough.

Dore Alley was pretty good this year from what I could see.  I worked the BCC booth most of the day.  The weather was perfect!  Not too hot and not too chilly.  If you’ve ever been to Dore or Folsom, it’s your typical fare of boys, daddy’s, tourists, and freaks extraodinaire. And I say freaks in the nicest possible way.  But why is it the people you don’t wanna see naked are always the ones that are?  Ugggh!  I almost told one guy I’d pay him to put his clothes back on.

I didn’t run into a sinlge blogger though.  I was very disappointed none of the clan stopped by to say hi.  In lieu of the regular group, several previously unknown readers stopped by to say hi.   One guy started yelling half a block away.  I thought at first someone had died or something.  (See James, I told you I’d mention it.)

Other than that, the day went pretty well.  The calendar men for this year seem really good together.  No premadonna’s at all.  Which is odd.  There’s always one or two in the group.  Not only did they work well together but they were courteous and respectful the whole time.  I was very impressed.

And, if you must know, yes I was a dirty slut.  You were expecting less?  I can report my jaw is still sore today.  *smile*

518 Only

So, I knew it was bound to happen eventually. Just not so soon. Someone hit the bike today. (518 is our code for accident w/no injuries)
I was parked at the post office and came out see this guy backing right into it. I let out a yelp and he stopped just as his bumper made contact. As luck would have it, he only pushed it a bit. What aggrevated me, instead of pulling forward he just stopped and hopped out. I’m sure his ears were are a littled seared though. I’m none too shy and when I’m excited or angry the curse words tend to flow. He was very apologetic but I wasn’t hearing it.

I got lucky this time. I walked out in time to catch it. My buddy kristaki had a similar experience at a post office as well. Who knew post offices were such hot spots for running over motorcycles!

Oh, It’s almost gay high holy day (Dore Alley Fair). I’m working the BCC booth on Sunday. If you are local or gonna be in town, stop by say hi. I’m sure to be a dirty hoe too. Or at least I’m hoping too.

Lost Another One…

Why is it every time I meet a guy that rocks, he is already taken?  I mean I so rarely find a guy I wanna date.  WTF is up w/that?
I’ve seen this guy around town over that last few months.  He often makes eye contact w/the that slow sensual “yeah, I wanna put it in you” sort of look.  Today, we run into each other at the gym.  We talk, great connection. So, right when I’m about to ask him on a date, he springs it on me….Oh yeah, the “I already have a boyfriend”.

They have an open relationship yadda yadda yadda but, I probably won’t go there.  The great thing about 3ways is the anonymity of it all.  Having a one sided connection to him now, I think it would be a spectacular failure.
*sigh*

Sad Happenings

Today was not a pleasant day. An officer was killed in the line of duty early this morning. To say that we are all sad from the loss is an understatement.

In my line of work, I see death on a daily basis. However, it becomes that much harder when it is one of our own.  Most of you know I do not see death as an end.
I didn’t personally know the officer but I worked w/him often. He was a good guy who tried to make a difference.  We are diminished as a whole w/o him. But, we will carry on in his memory.

Rest in peace my friend.  You light is gone from this world but we take comfort that your light will go on.
