This Week In Pics III

The pics this week are few and varied. I didn’t do a whole lot over the weekend. Actually, most of my weekends of late have been very lazy. I figure it is time to get back on the horse and be a little more productive.

Speaking of productive, I had a very good week of workouts. I pushed myself very hard. So hard in fact, I had to take an extra couple days off. My entire body hurt from being sore. This week, I think I won’t push so hard. A friend who hasn’t seen me lately said I looked the same as I did last year. Little did he know that was a compliment. I’d gotten flabby and saggy in several places over the span of 6 months last year. His off the cuff comment made my day!

Here is Bobbeisha and I being somewhat silly. I’ve forgotten what it was we were laughing about but obviously it was hilarious.

In an effort to talk more about work, here is an average shot of one of workstations. I deliberately blurred the image as it showed 10-34 (sensitive) information on the screen. No since inviting drama into my life. On the left is the touch screen 800 MHz radio system. The two big screens in the middle are my normal workspace for anywhere from 6-15 active windows. The right is the touch screen phone system. Multi-tasking at its finest.

Work Station

This last one was just a quickie while out on a ride. A typical foggy day in SF with a view of the bridge in the distance.

I got this rather edu-mucated response on my about page this morning. It is always nice to be insulted by a complete moron. *giggle*

Your blog sucks and so does your attitude. Go suck a fuck you loser.

Of course, in this instance I know where it came from. I left a comment over at Towleroad about the lesbian suing eharmony because they don’t cater to lesbian/gays.

I think I might do a weekly section dedicated to these folks. This particularly bitter individual must be miserable in life. He/she also managed to equate the murder of Matthew Shepard w/eharmony refusing to cater to us. Oh yeah, that is truly great logic in motion.

No One Left

Well, it’s my weekend. It was a short week thankfully. Work has been overly stressful as of late. The irony is it isn’t the callers that are causing it. Management is trying to stop the bleed off of employees by implementing a new schedule that has most of the members very upset. Personally, I don’t care however, I live in the city, have no kids and it really isn’t a burden for me. Not so for the bulk of our work force. Seventy percent of the employees live outside the city, some as far away as Sacramento. This new longer schedule will push some to quit or retire. We are already facing critically low numbers, we really can’t afford to lose anyone else.

The new director means well but she is out of touch w/the center and is trying to patch the problem w/ideas from her previous and much smaller comm. center. I pray nothing critical happens in SF as we are woefully underprepared. If something like Katrina happened here, while I’m quite sure the delay would not be the same, our center would probably collapse under the extra burden.

With that in mind, I’m starting to check out surrounding agencies to see what kind of lateral programs they offer. The sheer lack of concern and respect has really begun to weigh on me and I’m fed up.

This Week In Pics

In my never-ending tinkering of the blog, I’m adding a new section. “This week in pics” is my endeavor to keep up w/taking pics for the blog. I get lazy at times and maybe this will help.

Speaking of tinkering, I also added a translation page (see left). It only supports about five languages for now however, I expect it to grow. Looking at my blog stats taught me quite a few folks from overseas read my blog. Hopefully, the little translation will help. Anyone overseas reading is welcome to give me feedback.

On with the pics. . .

The pic used to verify my replacement backpack from bumbakpaks.com (Very good packs btw)

A very odd happen stance. I was eating at the Cove one day this past week and saw this guy getting filmed in front of the Castro Theatre. I still don’t know what they were doing…

My latest flavor of protein drink. Not bad tasting however, it tends to clump up a lot.

A cross statue in the Wharf. How very holy of me, right?

I wore this weekend out! I had 4 days off (including today) and I managed to squeeze in some fun time. The roomie is down in LA so I had the place to myself.

Friday: Pretty lazy. I slept in, did the gym, lunch, blah blah blah. Friday night, I went to Auntie bb’s but, it was so non-appetizing, I called it a night and went home early. Instead, I caught up on Gears of War and God of War II. Gears, I’m on the hardest level now. Those pesky monsters get smarter and smarter w/each level. God, I’m to the end of challenge mode. I have two more modes to go!

Saturday: My friend Bobby aka Bobbiesha came down from Vallejo and we hung out. We’d originally planned to go to the movies but it takes a stick of dynamite to get that bitch moving w/any speed. He finally arrives and we grab some lunch and then head off to be some gadget and b’day present shopping.1 Bobbeisha broke his Zen player so he needed to get a new one. Of course, anytime I end up in a computer store, I’m happy for hours. I checked out the next gen. TV’s, Tivo series 3, etc. I’ve decided I want a flat panel TV for the bedroom. Nothing as glamorous as the living room TV but, I want one I can hang on the wall.2 The Tivo 3 is still a tad pricey for my tastes. The hi-def fare isn’t diverse enough to upgrade just yet in my opinion. Now once the scifi channel goes hi-def, I may have to rethink that decision. Anyway, I didn’t buy anything new. I know, I’m as surprised as you are. It was still fun just browsing. That night, still feeling frisky, I went back to Auntie bb’s. She was in a much better mood.

1031

This is officially my 1031st post here at the ole blog. I meant to post this at the 1000 mark however, I got distracted and forgot. I’m winding up my 3rd year of blogging and still going strong. It has been an interesting three years to say the least. What started as a simple coping mechanism has turned into a very important part of my life.

I’ve met many friends over the last few years and hope to meet more. I’ve also had a chance to examine parts of myself and my life and make changes for the better.1 This past year, I’ve opened up a little more on the private parts of my life in an attempt to paint a better picture of what is to be me. Now, I’m wondering what’s next? Where do I go from here? Do I continue on this path w/the mundane and sometimes not so mundane?

I’ve toyed with the idea of doing a second and more commercialized blog. Mainly, as there are lots of things I want to branch into. I have more than enough space and bandwidth in my ISP package to handle it. But do I have the necessary time to devote to it? That is the big question I’m asking myself right now.

If you had a choice, what would you like to see more of here?

1 The jury is still out on that but I like to think so.

Recovering

As if it wasn’t obvious, work this week has been miserable. It has left me in an overall funk that is slowly clearing. I just get sick of the drama. I have a long weekend coming up and I’m looking forward to it.

This is my first week w/o the trainer. I can report I’ve been very good at hitting the gym consistently. However, it is nice to go to the gym and sleep in. hehehe I’m incorporating some of the things I learned from him into my workout. Some of his tips have helped me get out of the gym faster yet still feeling worked out.

The new laptop hard drive arrived yesterday. I spent a good chunk of last evening re-tweaking it. Thankfully, I didn’t loose too much stuff. That said, I’m leery of my upcoming battle w/Microsoft. I can’t find my printed version of the license key and I’ll be damned if I’m paying for Office 2007 again. Naturally, the key is stuck on the hard drive that failed. If they jerk me around, I’ll resort to the peer to peer networks for a hacked version. I try not to deny folks compensation for their hard earned programming skills however, I refuse to pay twice for the same thing.

I’m off to work. Hopefully, my last two days will be better than the first three.

Some Days

Some days I like work and others I hate it. This week I hate it. It seems to be a never ending struggle w/drama.

Our dept is using so much overtime we are in danger of exceeding our normal operational labor costs. A first in the history of any city dept. Yet, the chief negotiator for the City had the audacity to tell us we don’t have a recruitment/retention problem. Ironic huh?

Add to that, the almost daily bombardment of pettiness and it tends to wear on you. I don’t think it is asking a lot to come to work, plug in, do my job and be left alone. One would think it is a no-brainer. One would be wrong. Seems like every week the dept comes up with a new way to rob us of what few perks we have left. If it wasn’t for my upcoming schedule for school, I’d seriously consider looking at other agencies.

I could go on and on but it serves no purpose and I hate whining. Weeks like this just re-enforce my determination to go to school and get out of here.

Techno Drama

So I get home last night and my cable card isn’t decoding the signal for the TV. The cable box was working fine. Thank the stars as poor Tivo might have had a fit otherwise. The card still isn’t fixed today. Comcrack is supposed to be out later to repair it (read here: snoop to see if I’m hacking the signal). I found out quite a few folks here lost their signal due to an “uprade” in software. Now, you know I’d rather walk on lips than talk about someone but, I heard a dirty rumor they are actually using it to see how many folks are trying to pirate cable thru hacked cards. Of course, there is never any truth to big business spying on consumers so I don’t believe a word of it. Tsk, tsk.

The real drama was yet to come. I get up this morning I groggily make my way to the sofa to fire up the laptop1 only to be shocked completely awake by a clicking noise and a dark laptop screen. Here is a sample of what went thru my mind…

Mr. Sandman

Ok, enough about hypocrites and politics, more of me. I’ve had some really odd dreams as of late. Normally, I have 2 or 3 dreams a night that I can remember. They say the average person can have as many as 10 dreams a night however, we rarely remember all of them. And while mine often tend to be vivid, still very normal in the scope of dreams. Lately though, my dreams have become like mini sagas. I can only remember one dream a night now and they tend to be very lengthy and very involved.

A good example from last week, I had a very detailed dream where I had bird wings and was in a battle for dominion over my people against a tyrant bird king. The dream started w/me learning the ins/outs of learning how to fly all the way to several lengthly battles w/the king. I woke up before the dream finished. It is still as fresh in my mind as if I’d just dreamt (yes I know not a real word) it last night. While the story itself is probably from a scene in my God of War II video game, the scenery, the battles, and the plot are very different. Even that isn’t so unusual as the length and depth of plot to it. While I can have repeats of dreams the complexity is rarely this high. I’m curious if anyone else out there has or does experience this?
